Maisha T. Robinson, MD, MSHPM
Maisha T. Robinson, MD, MSHPM, a former Scholar in the UCLA Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Clinical Scholars Program, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology and has a Joint Appointment in Department of Family Medicine, Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, FL. Dr. Robinson received a Doctorate of Medicine from Tufts University, Boston, MA, and a Master of Science in Health Policy and Management from the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. Dr. Robinson, who is board certified in neurology and palliative medicine, is interested in advancing the integration of neurology and palliative medicine and exploring strategies to improve end-of-life care planning and reduce health-care disparities at the end of life in those who are at high risk for stroke, dementia and other neurodegenerative diseases and who are disproportionately underutilizing advance-directive documents.

Project
“Closing the gap about crossing over: Addressing the disparity in advance-care planning in elderly African Americans.” Dr. Robinson’s RCMAR/CHIME- and UCLA CTSI-funded project is a multi-phase project that seeks to develop and pilot an intervention that maps onto the known barriers to yield the desired outcome of increased advance care planning in African Americans age 60 and older, and involves a feasibility study with pilot testing of an intervention informed by a social influence model.
