Kathleen Sanchez, PhD, MPH
Kathleen Sanchez, PhD, MPH, Research and Evaluation Specialist, Los Angeles County Department of Public Health Immunization Program, received a Doctorate of Philosophy in Health Behavior Research from the University of Southern California and a Master in Public Health in Community Health from Yale University, New Haven, CT. Dr. Sanchez’ areas of research focus on women’s health issues among culturally and linguistically diverse populations, including cancer survivorship and employment, cancer treatment adherence and depression, quality of life and cancer survivorship, and role of social support and compliance with cancer treatment.

“The impact of intimacy and partner support on Health Related Quality of Life (HRQOL) among older African American, Latina, and Asian American breast and cervical cancer survivors.” Dr. Sanchez’ RCMAR/CHIME-funded project sought to: 1) assess the relationship and differences between partner support, intimacy and four HRQOL domains among Latina, African and Asian American, breast and cervical cancer survivors in comparison to Euro-American survivors; 2) determine whether any observed ethnic differences are explained by demographic and clinical variables; and 3) identify shared and unique relationship concerns of among two cohorts of female cancers survivors (64 yrs or younger; 65+ years). The datasets were drawn from two population-based, cross-sectional studies of an ethnically diverse group of breast and cervical cancer survivors from Los Angeles County, CA.
