Dr. Bita Amani receives funding for the promotion of birth equity for Black women

Drs. Bita Amani (UCLA RCMAR CHIME Alumna, 2021-2022), Brandi Desjolais, and Roberto Vargas, Department of Urban Public Health, Black Maternal Health Center of Excellence, CDU have recently been awarded $9 million by HRSA for a project titled “Birth Equity through the Design and Implementation of a Safety-net perinatal Medical Home,” spanning 2023 – 2028.

This funding is for the promotion of birth equity through the design and implementation of a safety-net perinatal medical home that prevents and addresses the physical and psychosocial impacts of maternal stress experienced by Black women and birthing. This will be done in partnership with many local organizations and support, engaging faculty and students across all 3 colleges.
