Hafifa Shabaik, PhD, MSN, RN, is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the UCLA National Clinician Scholars Program at the David Geffen School of Medicine Department of General Internal Medicine and Health Services Research. Dr. Hafifa Shabaik’s research interests are in the long-term health outcomes of resettled refugees, and population health interventions engaging “unseen patients” in accessing preventive and mental health services.




“A Collaborative Planning Approach to Inform a Nurse Navigator Program to Improve Mental Health Services Utilization among Aging Refugees”, examines barriers and facilitators to mental health services among forced Afghan and Iraqi migrant adults and collaboratively explore aspects of a potential nurse-led intervention perceived to be feasible, useful and desirable from the community’s point of view.
