Sarah E. Choi, PhD, RN, FNP, an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing at the University of California, Los Angeles received a Doctorate of Philosophy in Nursing from the University of California San Francisco and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of California Los Angeles. Dr. Choi is interested in addressing health disparities in chronic disease management among underserved racial/ethnic minorities and immigrants through innovative community-based programs.

  • “Diabetes self-care program for older Korean immigrants and their spouses.” Dr. Choi’s RCMAR/CHIME- and UCLA CTSI-funded project sought to develop an effective diabetes self-management program for community dwelling Korean immigrant older adults and to test its feasibility and acceptability for this group, and to provide preliminary data for a randomized controlled trial to test the efficacy of the culturally tailored and modified diabetes self-care/spousal support program for this high-risk yet underserved ethnic minority elderly population.
