Today, October 1st, 2024, marks a historic day in the fight against the Latino physician shortage crisis in the US! Only 6% of physicians are Latino, despite Latinos making up 40% of California’s population. But thanks to tireless advocacy by Latino physician leaders, legislators, and like-minded organizations, California is leading the charge for change.
Assemblyman Dr. Joaquin Arambula’s ACR 128 measure unanimously passed on August 13th, designating October 1st as California Latino and Latina Physician Day! We salute California’s trailblazing spirit and Dr. Arambula’s dedication.
