Leo S. Morales, MD, PhD, MPH

Leo S. Morales, MD, PhD, MPH, Professor and Chief Diversity Officer is also Director of the Center for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, Director of the Institute for Translational Health Sciences Hispanic Outreach Program and founding Co-Director of the Latino Center for Health at the University of Washington, Seattle. Dr. Morales received a Doctorate of Medicine and a Master of Public Health from the University of Washington, and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Policy Analysis from the RAND PARDEE Graduate School, and his research focuses on racial/ethnic and socioeconomic disparities in health and the measurement of patient resorted outcomes in diverse population settings.

Dr. Morales is a past recipient of a Robert Wood Johnson Minority Foundation Medical Faculty Development Award and a Robert Wood Johnson Health Policy Investigator Award and, in recognition of his research contributions, he was inducted into the American Society for Clinical Investigation in 2007.

2002-03 Pilot Project, "Quality of life assessment of the lifestyle program interventions." Dr. Morales' RCMAR/CHIME-funded project was an off-shoot of the Community-Based Lifestyle Balance Program (CLBP), a five year research project funded by NIH National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities Grant #P30-MD00148, Drew/UCLA Project EXPORT Center with the goal of developing a lifestyle intervention for low-income minority women.
